Total cabin volume for the Hawker 4000 is 762 cubic feet, a sizeable distinction from the Challenger 300’s 860 cubic foot cabin.


The operating costs are reasonably low, while other factors such as runway performance stay competitive.


With a range of nearly 3,200 nm, it is a true coast-to-coast performer against nearly any headwind and at better than airline speeds.


It is a remarkable short-field performer for an airplane in its class, and it is competitively priced too.


The Honeywell Primus Epic avionics suite features five, 8-in. by 10-in. portrait configuration displays and traditional Hawker cockpit layout, including ram’s horn control wheels.


Standard kit includes autothrottles, dual Honeywell LASEREF V IRSes and comprehensive integration of avionics and aircraft systems monitoring and fault detection.


The aircraft is a delight to fly, having crisp control response and pleasant control force harmony.

The Hawker 4000 super mid-size business jet is the largest aircraft in the Hawker family and features all-composite fuselage and swept aluminium wing design.


The aircraft was known as the Hawker Horizon but was renamed the Hawker 4000 in November 2005. Other members of the Hawker family include the Hawker 800XP and the Hawker 400XP.


In December 2006, Raytheon announced the sale of Raytheon Aircraft to GS Capital Partners. The new company is called Hawker Beechcraft Inc and the sale was completed in March 2007.


The aircraft, with an NBAA IFR range of 3,100nm (5,741km) and a speed of Mach 0.82 (870km/h), is capable of crossing the USA non-stop.


It has a maximum range of 3,400nm (6,296km), has transatlantic flight capability.


The Hawker 4000 made its first flight on 11 August 2001. More than 130 aircraft have been ordered. In June 2003, in confirmation of its transatlantic capability.


The US FAA granted the Hawker 4000 type certification in December 2004 and the first aircraft was delivered to Jack DeBoer, a businessman of Wichita, Kansas, shortly after.


Final type certification was granted in November 2006 but modifications required additional certification which was received in June 2008.


The first production Hawker 4000 was delivered in June 2008.


The Hawker 4000 fuselage is of advanced composite technology construction similar to that used on the Premier I entry level business jet, and including graphite / epoxy laminated material and honeycomb composites.


Hawker Beechcraft had high hopes for this Private Aircraft – they designed it to meet the high standards of comfort and performance required in the super midsized category of Aircraft.


The Hawker 4000 with an eight passenger cabin and transatlantic range, it still manages to reach speeds of 470 knots.

    For those reasons, asking prices for used Hawker 4000 aircraft are in the $4 million-6.5 million range, 20-30% of the original retail price, well below the resale prices of less capable super-midsize aircraft.


    However, if the aircraft undergoes a rigorous due diligence pre-buy process, this aircraft can be a great buy.


    Typically equipped, it’s capable of flying six passengers 3,100 nm at Mach 0.80. Each additional passenger costs about 50 nm of range.


    The 16.7-ft.long main seating area comfortably seats 8 passengers in double club or 9 passengers with the optional 3-place, aft left side divan.


    The forward right side galley shares space behind the cockpit with a 2.5-ft. long avionics cabinet.


    It has sufficient room for the standard wet sink, microwave oven, coffee maker and food/beverage/serving ware storage compartments.


    The carbon composite structure makes the cabin spacious and light for passengers.


    The space available offers room for a Flight Attendant, full galley (for in flight catering), and built-in rest room on board.

    The stand up cabin (6ft) helps to reduce fatigue for both pilots and passengers.


    The Hawker 4000 has a heated baggage area, which is accessible from the cabin even mid-flight.


    The Hawker 4000 is unlike any aircraft in its class, including the Challenger 300, Gulfstream G200, Citation X and Falcon 50.
