Cessna publicly announced it was developing a stretched development of the Citation II Private Jet at the annual NBAA convention in New Orleans in 1987.

The center club seating arrangement is appointed with dual fold-down executive tables. Hardwood sliding doors conceal a private lavatory that includes belted seating for an additional passenger.

The Citation V was based on the Citation II, but differences over the smaller jet include more powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D5A turbofans and a slight fuselage stretch, allowing seating in a standard configuration for eight passengers.
"The Citation 5 Private Jet" proved quite popular, with 262 built through to mid 1994 before production switched to the new modern Ultra. At centraljetcharter.com/citation-5.html can be chartered for $2425 an hour and up.
